In 1952, Charles Hoot opened the doors of what would become Plaza House with a simple goal — to provide quality products and dependable service to families throughout Central Pennsylvania.

The business began as a farmers market, serving the everyday needs of the local community. As times changed and customer needs grew, so did the business. The farmers market evolved into a department store, offering a wide variety of products for families throughout the area.

Over the years, Plaza House continued to change and grow. Eventually, the Hoot family discovered their true specialty — helping people create comfortable, beautiful homes with quality furniture.

For more than 40 years, Plaza House has focused exclusively on furniture, allowing the store to offer the knowledge, selection, and service customers expect when making an important purchase for their home.

Today, more than 70 years after Charles Hoot first started the business, Plaza House Furniture continues that tradition of quality products, trusted brands, and treating customers the right way.

While furniture styles, homes, and the way people shop have changed dramatically since 1952, the values behind Plaza House remain the same — offering dependable service, quality furniture, and a shopping experience built around the customer.
